Calling all Botanic Garden Educators (BGEs) !

We are looking for 3 or 4 colleagues to join us at Kew on this exciting new pilot training course for Teachers and Educators on Inquiry Based Science Education, focussing on the topics of Biodiversity Conservation and Climate Change.

Overall the course will entail 60 hours of work and is made up of 2 full days at Kew (October 5th and January 19th), 2 twilight sessions at Kew for the Botanic Garden Educators (4-7pm - in April or May 2012 ) + a 3 hour planning session and a delivery day to a selected school group of your choice in your own botanic garden. You will also need to do an assessment piece in your own study time.

We would be really excited if you can join us - 2012/13 and beyond, we would hope to see this course being run in more Botanic Gardens around the Uk - hopefdully with our participants running the course for their own garden. Our pilot courses (2011/12 and 2012/13) are free to participants, and we may even be able to find a bit of travel money to support your attendance.

A date for your diary! We are pleased to announce that we are now taking bookings for our happy families showcase. The event is all about building inspiring visitor experiences for families.

The day will look at what families want; showcasing the very best in family offers. Speakers and workshops will focus on realistic and achievable solutions for your venue and on children’s drive to play.

A choice of workshops with practical strategies and time-saving ideas.
An ideas swap-shop and take-home "inspire yourself" kit.
A supplier’s exhibition tailored to learning professionals.

Who is the event for? The showcase is relevant for anyone interested in developing and improving their family offer at their venue.

Places are limited to 100, so please do book early to avoid disappointment.

Delegate rates

Costs have been kept deliberately low to ensure it is affordable and encourages ideas to flow within the sector:

£ 85 + VAT Day rate for commercial organisations

£ 65 + VAT Day rate for not for profit organisations or individuals

£ 45 + VAT Day rate for volunteers and students

What’s included in the price?

The delegate rate includes your attendance for the whole day, including the keynote speakers and a choice of workshops. It also includes access to the supplier's exhibition and the ideas swap shop. All delegates will also receive a conference pack which will include helpful tips and tools, and discount vouchers for our family resources and guides. The day rate fee also includes morning refreshments, lunch and hot and cold drinks throughout the day.
